Throughput of Russian seaports up 1.5 percent to 489.3 mln tons
Cargo traffic at Russian seaports in recent 11 months of this year increased by 1.5% over the same period of last year to 489.3 million tons, the Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) said.
Handling of dry bulk cargo rose by 9 percent year-over-year to 213 million tons. The eleven-month volume includes 71.9 million tons of exported coal (+13.4%), containerized cargo - 36 million tons (+19.9%), grain - 16.6 million tons (+12.4% ), ore - 7.2 million tons (+33.1%), 7 million tons carried by ferries (+4.4%), unitized cargo - 5.4 million tons (+10.9%), refrigerated cargo - 4.2 million tons (+15.9%), non-ferrous metals - 3.7 million tons (+3.9%), scrap metal - 3.5 million tons (+33.7%), sugar - 2.2 million tons (+7.6%).
There was a 13.9 percent decline in the segment of ferrous metals to 22.2 million tons. Shipments of mineral fertilizer fell by 2.3% to 11.4 million tons, exports of timber dropped 9.5% to 5.6 million tons.
The volume of liquid bulk fell 3.9 percent from a year before, to 276.3 million tons. Crude oil exports were down 7 percent to178 million tons, oil products – by 2.3 percent to 96.7 million tons.
Stevedores of marine terminals of the Arctic Basin handled in January-November 38.1 million tons of cargo, a 19.6-percent drop from a year earlier. The volume of dry bulk cargo transshipped at the regional ports was up 9.5 percent year-on-year, to 20.3 million tons, liquid bulk exports slumped by 38.3 percent to 17.8 million tons, mainly at the ports of Murmansk (-47.9%), Varandey (-46.3%) and Vitino (-2.8%). Throughput of the port of Arkhangelsk rose by 20.8%.
In the reporting period cargo throughput of the Baltic Sea was up 4.5 percent to 169.8 million tons. Handling of dry bulk cargo rose by 13.6 percent to 65.7 million tons, the volume of liquid bulk slid to 104.1 million tons (-0.5%). Stevedore companies of Big Port St. Petersburg lifted 55.4 million tons, a 3.8-percent gain from a year earlier. Throughput of the port of Ust-Luga soared by 1.9 times year-on-year, to 20.2 million tons. Cargo traffic at the port of Primorsk dropped 3.3%, at the port of Vysotsk - by10.9%, at the port of Kaliningrad – by 2.3%, and at the port of Vyborg - by1.6%.
Transshipment of cargo at the seaports of the Black Sea was up 1 6% to 157.4 million tons. The volume of dry bulk cargo grew by 6.7% to 57 million tons. Exports of liquid bulk fell by 1.1 percent year-on-year, to 100.4 million tons.
Throughput of Port of Kavkaz fell by 15.7 percent to 7.9 million tons, of the port of Sochi –by 3.1% to 2.2 million tons. Operators of marine terminals based at the ports of Tuapse handled 17.7 million tons, a 3.4-percent gain, throughput of the port of Rostov rose by 30.2% to 9.2 million tons, of the port of Azov – by 6.2% to 4.3 million tons, of the port of Eisk – by 6.6%, to 3.5 million tons, of Taganrog port – by 19.7% to 3.2 million tons, of the port of Temryuk - by 25.3% to 2.2 million tons.
The Caspian regional ports handled 9.4 million tons of different cargoes, 4% down from last year’s figures. The volume of dry bulk dropped 14.3 percent to 4.9 million tons, liquid bulk volume fell 10.2 percent to 4.5 million tons.
Cargo traffic at the port of Makhachkala grew by 11.2% to 4.9 million tons, while throughput of Astrakhan port shrank by 9.8% to 4.1 million tons, of the port of Olya - by 48.9% to 0.5 million tons.
In January-November, the ports of the Pacific Ocean basin transshipped 114.7 million tons of cargoes (+6.5%), including 65.2 million tons of dry bulk cargo (+10.2%) and 49.5 million tons of liquid bulk (+1.9%). Throughput of Vostochny port was up 8% from 2010’s numbers (to 35.2 m tons, including the terminal in Kozmino). Cargo traffic at Port of Vanino rose 9.6% to 17.5 million tons, at the port of Prigorodnoye – by 1.8% to 14.9 million tons. Cargo handling at the port of Vladivostok increased by 2.4% to 10.6 million tons. Througput of the port of De Kastri was up 15.1% (to 7.5 million tons), of the port of Posiet - by 15.1% (5 million tons). Imports / exports at the port of Nakhodka dropped by 4.1% to 13.7 million tons.
