Damaged STX Pan Ocean VLOC moved to anchorage says Vale
Brazilian miner Vale says an STX Pan Ocean VLOC with cracks in its hull has been moved to an anchorage, Seatrade Asia online reports. The 400,000 dwt VLOC newbuilding Vale Beijing was found to have cracks in ballast tanks while at berth in Ponta da Madeira. Vale said the vessel had now been towed to anchorage for further survey and repairs.
The ship was delivered from STX Shipbuilding and Offshore in September this year to STX Pan Ocean for long term charter to Vale. Vale said operations at the port were being normalised.
