IMO delegates to meet protesters from Oxfam
This week the Maritime Environment Protection Committee of the IMO will convene at the UN body’s London headquarters. On the agenda, ship emissions of greenhouse gases have a high priority. Technical as well as market-based instruments for tackling emissions will be discussed.
During the week, delegates will meet protesters from Oxfam, an international confederation of 14 aid organisations. Oxfam is demanding that international shipping raise at least USD 10 billion annually to support the Third World when emissions are to be cut.
