India's port capacity to rise to 1.3 bln tonnes in 2012
India's port capacity will increase to 1.3 billion tonnes a year by April 2012 from a current 920 million tonnes, the country's maritime minister said on Monday.
'Expansion is taking place at all the major ports in the country,' Shipping Minister GK Vasan told Reuters in Singapore.
'In two months time, 1 billion tonnes will be reached when adding together all the major and minor ports.'
