CPV’s cargo turnover is up 20% in Jan-Aug, to 4.65 m tons
Eight-month freight volume handled by Commercial Port of Vladivostok JSC (CPV) amounted to 4,648,500 tons, a 20-percent rise over the same period in 2009, the stevedore company press service reported citing the information of Production Director Sergei Lopunov.
In eight recent months, the company handled 2,684,700 tons of outbound cargo, 943,200 tons of inbound goods, and 1, 020,600 tons of cargo carried by coasters.
Container traffic rose during the period to 211,533 TEUs, including 78,235 TEUs of exports, 65,154 TEUs of imports, and 68,144 TEUs of short sea trade.
In August, CPV transshipped 681,200 tons of cargo. The volume includes 377,900 tons of exported goods, 165,600 tons of imports and 137,700 tons of short sea trade.
The month volume of containerized cargo handled by the stevedore reached 32,979 TEUs. Exports amounted to 11,739 TEUs, imports – 11,994 TEUs, coastal traffics – 9,246 TEUs.
"In view of the current trend it might be suggested that CPV could significantly exceed the annual plan for cargo handling. By the end of the first decade of September the port’s freight turnover has already edged five million tons vs projected for this 6 million tons," Sergey Lopunov said.
Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port OJSC, part of FESCO Transport Group, owns and operates its assets at the sea port of Vladivostok, one of the largest seaports in the Russia’s Far East. CPV’s portfolio of assets includes 17 berths with facilities to transship grain, containerized cargoes, to handle passenger vessels, and autos. Last year’s throughput of CPV rose by 4.9% year-over-year, to 6.205.100 tons of cargo.
