St. Peter Line to hike service rate on St. Petersburg-Helsinki line next year
The service cost of the ferry line St. Petersburg-Helsinki will be increased by the summer navigation in 2011, Igor Glukhov, president of St. Peter Line said in an interview with journalists.
He said the ferry ticket cost is currently at a very low level, below which the company’s operation becomes unprofitable. "We are not going to lower the cost, it will only grow", Mr. Glukhov said.
A regular ferry service St. Petersburg - Helsinki has resumed from April 21, 2010. The line vessel Princess Maria can carry 1,638 passengers and 395 cars. The ferry has 606 cabins of various classes. By September 3rd St. Peter Line, the operator of St. Petersburg-Helsinki line, had provided services for 100,000 passengers. The company plans to add one more vessel next year to operate the line.
The operator eyes the launch of another ferry line - St. Petersburg - Stockholm in the spring of 2011.
