    Joint efforts lead to records

JSC Vostochny Port on July 23, 2012 handled a record 10th millionth ton of coal. This is a record figure of the stevedore company in less than seven straight months. The remarkable performance was originated by joint efforts of the company’s team and other factors, Managing Director of Vostochny Port Anatoly Lazarev and Tatiana Voitekhovich, chairman of local water transport labor union told in an interview with the PortNews correspondent.

    Anatoly Lazarev:

    - Undoubtedly, 10 million tons is the result of coordinated work of all participants in the transport chain: shippers, our partners in JSC RZD, shipowners and dock workers, stevedores and tallymen of Vostochny Port, whose professionalism and dedication allows our company to keep the leading position in cargo handling in the Far East and be rated among five top stevedore companies in Russia.
The handling equipment upgrade program carried out by LLC Managing Port Company has greatly contributed to the perfect results.

Hopefully, we keep the pace and by the end of the year we’ll handle about 18 million tons (of cargo).

    Tatiana Voitekhovich:

    - The high performance on the strategic direction of Vostochny Port, our Labor Union attributes the milestone to Managing Port Company, the
Port Authority, crews of the Vostochny Port’s harbor fleet, specialists of both transshipment terminals, and employees of all other units of the port, who have contributed to this record.
Only a company that takes care of its employees and labor veterans can confidently look to the future. Over the past three years the port authorities have done a great job. In addition to the port facilities modernization, the Port Authority in conjunction with the union developed and introduced a package of measures on labor protection. This allowed us to significantly reduce injuries during operations at the port. In the first half of the year Vostochny Port has invested in work place safety standards RUB 15 million.

In 2011, Vostochny Port’s investment in the labor agreement totaled RUB 34.5 million. These figures, in my opinion, are the guarantors of a stable and smooth operation of our company. We believe that the normal operation is not a struggle but seeking of mutual understanding. Only this can ensure social peace in our team, to be the key to productivity growth and prosperity of the company, improving the welfare of its employees.
