Restoration of the new berth of cargo port in Sochi destroyed on December, 14th is planned for February, 2010. According to IA Port News, such terms were named today during Ministry of Transport Committee Meeting of the Russian Federation which took place at the emergency event site.
Following the strongest 6- point storm, the part of hydraulic engineering construction on «a pile field» in cargo area of port of Sochi (a mouth of the river of Mzymta) collapsed Monday morning under the wave pressure. According to witnesses, the gap reaches almost 80 metres. Besides, waves have seriously damaged coastal base of construstors, carrying away building small houses and building materials. As it is said in an official report of Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the cause of such destructions was formation of waves 10-12 meters high, while design parameters of hydraulic construction made up 7,5 meters.
Now the detailed engineering investigation of the damaged constructions is carried out. After that the damage losses will be calculated. At the same time goverment intends to restore the given object in three-months, CEO of FSUE Rosmorport told in his interview to IA Port News. Experts believe that it could be possible in good winter weather conditions.
As Ministry of Transport in Russia reports, the production self-elevating platform Irben capsized following the last storm. The diving tender (DT) North (ship-owner - LLC Sochimorstroi) overturned and cast up on a shore in the territory of berths №№ 3-4. Crew of the ship Irben was preliminary taken from the vessel. Almost two days passed since the occurrence of the accident, the crew of a boat consisting of three persons has not been found yet. The rescue operation is underway.
The Project of cargo port establishment in Sochi is prepared 50 % more. JSC Engineering Corporation Transstroi carries out object construction. The port cargo district is established by request of FSUE Rosmorpot and the company Basic Element. It is planned to make reorientation in the yachting infrastructure. Project implementation of port construction will solve a problem how to deliver cargoes for sport constructions erection. They need to be finished by the Olympic Games of 2014 in Sochi. The port complex will consist of cargo front berths, port berths, anti-wave constructions and a coastal infrastructure: warehouses, administration building, port roads, utilities. The port will occupy about 800 meters of a coastal line. It is planned for acceptance of ships with deadweight to 5500 tones and 140 m long. The port water area is about to be reequipped in marine to accept around 400 to 500 yachts.
