Lead hydrographic survey vessel of Project 23370G completed state trials
Mikhail Kazansky, lead ship in a series of large hydrographic survey vessels of Project 23370G, built for RF Navy’s Hydrographic Service by KAMPO enterprise and assembled from blocks by Vyborg Shipyard has successfully completed state trials in the water area of the Gulf of Finland says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The trials programme included checking of maneuverability and seaworthiness of the boat as well as operation of ship systems. Upon completion of the trials, the State Commission signed the Acceptance Certificate following which the ship will join RF Navy’s Baltic Fleet by the order of Admiral Nikolay Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of RF Navy.
According to the Ministry’s statement, the Mikhail Kazansky boat is unique with its catamaran-type hull. This design lets significantly increase useable deck area for accommodation of hydrographic equipment. Three large hydrographic survey board of this design are to be built for RF Navy’s Hydrographic Service by the end of 2020.
As it was reported earlier, the fabricated blocks and sections of the boat were loaded onto heavy duty trucks on August 7, 2019 at Moscow Region based shipbuilding firm KAMPO JSC to be delivered to Vyborg Shipyard which completed the construction.
Under the order of RF Navy's Commander-in-Chief, the large hydrographic boat will be named after Mikhail Kazansky, the outstanding hydrograph who took part in the construction of the “Road of Life” on the Ladoga lake, the head of the ice service of the Baltic Fleet, Colonel Engineer Mikhail Kazansky.
The Project 23370G multifunctional modular hydrographic are intended for voyage and hydrographic work; for installing (removing) and servicing floating warning signs; delivering service personnel; repair brigades, food, fuel and other cargoes to coastal facilities, including those located on an unequipped coast.
The boat is capable of measuring depth under buoys with the help of an echo sounder. The boat’s water displacement is about 140 tons.
All boats of the series will be named after distinguished Russian lighthousemen.
The multifunctional modular hydrographic boat of 23370G design has been developed on the basis of projects 23370 and 23370M boats, which the KAMPO enterprise is building in the interest of search and rescue forces of the Russian Navy and which have already proven their efficiency.
