Sovcomflot’s fleet under RS supervision increased by 33% to 40 vessels in 2014
Sovcomflot Group (SCF) and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) undertake measures aimed at improvement of Russia fleet’s competitiveness. According to the press center of RS, the year of 2014 saw the transition of 10 SCF vessels to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The fleet of Sovcomflot under supervision of RS increased to 40 vessels including state-of-the-art LNG carriers of Atlanticmax class, multifunctional icebreaking supply vessels, oil tankers, chemical tankers, tugboats.
Taking into consideration the growing demand of large oil & gas projects in the continental shelf of Russia Sovcomflot is going to increase the number of specialized hi-tech vessels flying the flag of the Russian Federation and to further develop the cooperation with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The entire shipbuilding programme of SCF is being implemented with the participation of RS.
SCF and RS participate in implementation of a number of projects on construction of ships that can operate in extremely low temperature in the regions with severe climate. The pilot state-of-the-art Arctic LNG carrier (ARC7) is being built under the order of SCF for Yamal LNG project. The vessel will be able to transport LNG along the Northern Sea Route. The LNG carrier is to be put into operation in June 2016. One more series of 42,000 dwt Arctic shuttle oil carriers is being built under the supervision of RS for (project 42К Arctic Shuttle Tanker) for Novoportovskoye field (the largest field on the Yamal Peninsula). The delivery is scheduled for 2016.
A series of the state-of-the-art icebreaking vessels is under construction at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Oy (USC) to the order of Sovcomflot for operation within the framework of Sakhalin-1 project. The series of Icebreaker6 vessels will ensure round-the year operation at oil & gas fields. The vessels are to be delivered before 2017. They will fly the flag of the Russian Federation.
