Cargo turnover of Archangelsk port in January-August 2006 decreased by 20.9% amounting to 3.39 million tons
Cargo turnover of Archangelsk port in January-August 2006 decreased by 20.9% amounting to 3 394 thou tons. This information has been provided to PortNews IAA by the Administration of Archangelsk sea port. Stevedoring companies of the port over the reported period received 240.063 thou tons of cargo (+ 21% year-on-year). Import cargo - 110.989 thou tons (+ 69%), inter-coastal cargo — 129.074 thou tons (- 2.9%). Import was characterized by cargo turnover amounting to 34.246 thou tons (- 37.4%), machines and equipment — 1.718 thou tons, that is 10.2 times higher than in January-August 2005, other general cargo amounted to 75.025 thou tons, that is 7 times as high as the year-on-year results. Cargo turnover of incoming inter0coastal cargo amounted to 7.309 thou tons (+ 9.3%), metal transshipment amounted to 13.300 thou tons, that is three times higher than the result of eight months in 2005 года, metal transshipment increased by 27.5% amounting to 4.540 thou tons. Other general cargo amounted to 94.565 thou tons (- 13.8%).
Besides, over eight months the port of Archangelsk shipped 3 154.138 thou tons (- 22.9%). Share of export amounted to 923.900 thou tons (- 47.4%), inter-coastal shipment — 2 230.238 thou tons (- 4.5%). The structure of export cargo includes oil and oil products amounting to 54.072 thou tons, that is 15.6 times below the results of 2005. Cargo turnover amounted to 31.083 thou tons (- 29.9%). Timber – 411.847 thou tons (- 18.8%). Transshipment of metal amounted to 158.939 thou tons (+ 44.4%), coal and coke — 145.251 thou tons (+ 48.8%). Other general cargo amounted to 3.508 thou tons, that is two times more than in January-August 2005. The structure of shipped inter-coastal cargo includes oil and oil products amounting to 1 898.621 thou tons (- 9.5%), machines and equipment — 6.856 thou tons (- 43.7%), metals — 53.910 thou tons (+ 18.6%), other general cargo — 170.242 thou tons, that is 2.8 times below the result of eight months of 2005. Coal transshipment amounted to 33.844 thou tons (+ 47.3%). Cargo turnover in the structure of shipped inter0coastal cargo amounted to 62.852 thou tons (- 34%).
Archangelsk – is the largest sea port Russia in the North. Archangelsk sea port accepts the vessels with a draught up to 9.2 meters, length - 175 meters and width up to 30 meters. There are 151 berths in the port with a total berth length of 17548 meters. 31 berths of them belong to the timber industry companies, 22 berths belong to sea trade port, 6 berths – to river port, 3 berths – to Rosneft-Archangelsk oil product OJSC (refine oil and oil products for export), 2 berths of fishing ports and 87 minor berths of other organizations. Transit cargo from Europe to the countries of the Far, Middle and Near East go via Archangelsk port.
