Over 37 million tons of export, import and transit cargo was carried via port railway stations of North-Caucasus Railway over 8 months of 2006 (+125 thou tons as compared with year-on-year result). This information has been provided the PR service of NCRW. Volume of transshipment via port railway stations of NCRW grew over the reported period by 1.1% as compared with year-on-year result to over 34 million tons. According to experts of marketing department of brand transport service, the increase is explained by increased volume of cargo handled in the ports of Novorossisk (+3.5%), Eisk (by 39.4%), Caucasus (by 23.7%), Temryuk (by 20.2%), Ust-Donetsk (by 29.4%). Transshipment volume growth is explained in its turn by increased export of oil (by 2.3%), ferrous metals (by 9.6%), timber (by 10.6%), coal (by 2.2%), grain (by 2.3%), other cargoes (by 3.5%).
Novorossisk plays the most important role in transshipment of grain cargoes and ferrous metals for export (83.2% of overall grain transshipment and 70% of overall ferrous metals transshipment via port stations of North-Caucasus Railway). In January-August export of grain via Novorossisk amounted to 1.6 million tons (+110.6% against 2005 result); export of ferrous metals – over 6.5 million tons (+114.6% against year-on-year result). In January-August export of grain via Tuapse amounted to 283 thou tons (+205% against 2005 result). Over 9 million tons of export and transit ferrous metals were transported via port railway stations over 8 months of 2006 (+109.6% against year-on-year result). In January-August 2006 North-Caucasus Railway exported 9.7 million tons of cargo (+109.5% against year-on-year result). This growth has been provisioned by growth of oil cargo transportation (by 38.3%), mineral-and-construction cargo transportation (by 91.1%), grain cargo (by 6.2%), other cargoes (by 15.7%).
