ZIM to provide shorter transit times on express service
ISRAELI shipping line Zim has heeded customer demands and says it will upgrade its Container Express Service from next month by offering faster transit times between major ports of call, and focussing its service offering on the growing China market.
A Zim statement said that once the changes come into effect, up to five days will be shaved off current transit times on the existing service that makes stops at ports in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Panama and the US.
The new port rotation for the Zim Container Express Service will be: Shekou, Hong Kong, Keelung, Balboa, Kingston, Savannah, New York, Halifax.
The shipping line said departing from Shekou it will take one day to reach Hong Kong, two days to Keelung, 20 days to arrive at Balboa, 22 days to sail to Kingston, 26 days to reach Savannah, 28 days to arrive in New York and 31 days to Halifax.
The first sailing on the new port schedule will be undertaken by the Zim Savannah, which is expected to set sail from Shekou on October 24.
