RF Government approves draft EEU agreement on shipping
On 25 December 2017 Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev signed a Decree on approval of the draft EEU agreement on shipping (No 2933-р). The purpose of the agreement is to create regulatory framework for establishing of the order of shipping on inland water ways of EEU member states. The agreement will regulate transportation of cargo, passengers and their luggage, transit through inland water ways of EEU member states, bilateral shipping. The Decree is available at the official website of RF Government.
The draft agreement submitted by RF Transport Ministry has been approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ad hoc authorities. The document had been preliminary elaborated together with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Under the agreement, each EEU member state will grant the ships flying under the flags of other EEU member states the same rights as granted to the ships flying its flag.
