Castellum breaks ground on new logistics park site Phase 1 near Port of Gothenburg
On Hisingen, immediately beside the Port of Gothenburg, an entirely new logistics park covering one million square metres is gradually emerging. June 9, the property company Castellum held a groundbreaking ceremony prior to constructing a new logistics facility with a total floor space of 26,000 square metres. The facility marks the first stage in Castellum’s investment in the logistics park, which is located beside the port, the Port Authority said in its news release.
On Hisingen, immediately beside the Port of Gothenburg, an entirely new logistics park covering one million square metres is gradually emerging. It was announced in March that Castellum had entered into an agreement with Logistics Contractor regarding the construction of a new facility at the Port of Gothenburg Logistics Park. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 7 and the facility is due to be completed during the first quarter of 2018. It will have 26,000 square metres of floor space.
No tenant has been named as Castellum is building purely on speculation.
“This is a prime location beside the largest port in Scandinavia and we are confident about building without having a tenant lined up. We are constructing an adaptable, ultramodern logistics facility that can be divided into smaller units, ranging from 6,000 square metres upwards. Our offer is flexible and there’s the opportunity to adapt the space based on the needs of each tenant,” said Stefan Vilhelmsson, Letting Manager at Castellum.
Environmentally certified with solar panels
The facility will be environmentally certified and prepared for the fitting of solar panels on the roof.
It marks the first phase in the Castellum investment at the Port of Gothenburg Logistics Park. Of the 127,000 square metres of land, around 60,000 is planned to used for construction.
Port of Gothenburg Logistics Park
The Port of Gothenburg Logistics Park is just 10 minutes from the quayside, immediately beside the Port of Gothenburg. The park has one million square metres of land, of which around half can be transformed into warehousing space. Apart from Gothenburg Port Authority – which owns the largest parcel of land – Bockasjö, Eklandia, NCC and Prologis are also developing properties in the park.
