CPC Operations Control Center at Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk resumes functioning after reconstruction
On October 31, 2016 an opening ceremony took place at the Marine Terminal of Caspian Pipeline Consortium in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka after completion of the reconstruction of the Operations Control Center (OCC) of CPC crude pipeline system, CPC says in a press release.
The ceremony was attended by CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban, Mikhail Grishankov, Deputy General Director, RF Government Relations Department, Serikkali Murinov, Consultant, Oil Movements and Commerce. Novorossiysk Municipal Administration was represented at the ceremony by Deputy Head Dmitry Agapov.
Simultaneously three specialists using three dispatcher boards (instead of two before) will now provide 24/7 monitoring of the oil acceptance, pumping and loading modes, control of pressure in the system, flow rate, oil level in the tanks, oil quality and other operation parameters. The reconstructed OCC room has been furnished with new equipment, including the SCADA system for day-to-day data control and gathering.
CPC General Director pointed out that the accomplished reconstruction would allow to ensure the maximum efficient and even safer operation of the crude oil transportation system in respect of the entire pipeline length from Tengiz field in Kazakhstan to single point moorings in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka after the completion of CPC Expansion Project which would result in more than doubling the volume of oil lifted via the Marine Terminal.
Deputy City Head thanked the Company for its efforts to improve its processes with allowance for all comprehensive requirements to hydro carbon transportation and social support to the habitants of the hero city of Novorossiysk.
After completion of the ceremony CPC General Director went on an inspection flight in helicopter along the crude pipeline from the Marine Terminal to Krasnodar.
CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy industry with participation of foreign capital on the CIS territory. The length of the pipeline connecting the oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with single point moorings which allow for safe tanker lifting at a considerable distance from the shore, also when the weather conditions are unfavorable.
The Expansion Project includes rehabilitation of 5 existing and construction of 10 additional pump stations (2 in the Republic of Kazakhstan and 8 in the Russian Federation), six new storage tanks (100,000 cu.m each) in addition to the existing four near Novorossiysk and a third SPM at the CPC Marine Terminal, and also the replacement of an 88 km pipeline section in Kazakhstan with a larger diameter pipe. The total amount of the Project investments will be US$ 5.4 billion.
