Gazprom Neft completes assembling it Arctic terminal at Cape Kemenny
Gazprom Neft has completed assembling the Arctic terminal at Cape Kemenny (Gulf of Ob, Yamal Peninsula) intended for round-the-year loading of tankers under Novy Port project, press center of Gazprom Neft says.
Special infrastructure facilities have been built at the Gulf of Ob shore to ensure the terminal operation: subsea and onshore pipelines with total length exceeding 10.5 km, a tank farm, pumping stations etc. The terminal structures with total height exceeding 80 meters were assembled with the assistance of 5,000-tonne crane ship Oleg Strashnov, one of the world’s largest ships of this kind.
Preparatory operations are to be completed by the end of 2015 with the start of comprehensive testing of the Arctic terminal scheduled for early 2016.
The terminal capable of handling over 8.5 mln t of crude oil per year is being built in compliance with safety and environment protection legislation.
Novoportovskoye is one of the largest fields of exploitable oil and gas condensates in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Recoverable C1 and C2 reserves are more than 250 million tonnes of oil and condensate, with over 320 billion cubic metres of gas (including the Palaeozoic strata). It is located in the south-east of a peninsular in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, 250km north of the town of Nadym and 30km from the Gulf of Ob shore line. Having completed pilot production drilling, Gazprom Neft Novy Port began full commercial drilling in 2014.
Oil will be shipped through a transfer complex at Cape Kamenny. Gazprom Neft confirmed the viability of this plan in 2011 after a test voyage by a nuclear-powered icebreaker from the Sabetta port (north east of the Yamal peninsula) to Cape Kamenny some 400km to the south.
