Aktaus port (Kazakhstn) transshipped 6.5 million tons of oil and oil products over 8 months of 2006
Aktaus international sea trade port (Kazakhstn) transshipped 7 million 576.7 thou tons of general and oil cargo over 8 months of 2006 (+10% as compared with 2005). This information has been provided by KAZINFORM referring to the Marketing Department of the sea port. The Department reported, that the port handled 1347 vessels over the reported period. Total volume of dry bulk cargo transshipped over this period amounted to 1021.7 thou tons, that slightly exceeds the level of 2005. The figure includes transshipment of metal to 834.419 thou tons. Transshipment of other cargoes – 95.778 thou tons, (+113% against the level of 2005). Considering the development of International Transport Corridor, the whole year is characterized by stable growth of transit cargo transshipped by the port’s ferry complex. Total volume of ferry cargo transportation over 8 months of 2006 amounted to 187.281 thou tons (+12% as compared with 2005). Major share of dry bulk cargo transshipment has traditionally belonged to export-focused metal products of Mittal Steel Temirtau JSC, Kasting Limited Partnership, as well as to transit of metal products manufactured by Ural Steel LLC. Total transshipment of oil and oil products over 8 months of 2006 amounted to 6 million 546 thou tons (+9% against the level of 2005).
