Cargo turnover of the port of Tuapse decreased in January-August 2006 by 2.5% amounting to 14.1 million tons
Cargo turnover of the port of Tuapse decreased in January-August 2006 by 2.5% amounting to 14 054.58 thou tons. This information has been provided to PortNews IAA at the port’s administration.
Cargo turnover of Tuapse Sea Trade Port stevedoring company amounted over eight months of 2006 to 14 031.62 thou tons, (-2.5% as compared with January-August 2005). In the first half of the year oil transshipment amounted to 3 362.63 thou tons – similar to the last year level, oil products - 6 164.04 thou tons (- 8.1% as compared with year-on-year). The company handled 2 092.71 thou tons of coal and coke (+ 3.2%). Transshipment of grain over the reported period grew by a factor of 2.1 to 284.31 thou tons. Transshipment of sugar amounted to 778.83 thou tons (- 8.1%). In January-August of the current year ore transshipment decreased by a factor of 19.5 amounting 3.54 thou tons. Transshipment of metal scrap decreased by a factor of 55.4 to 1,57 thou tons. Over the reported period the port handled 1 343.08 thou tons of metal, that is 17% higher than the result of January-August 2005.
Cargo turnover of Tuapse Sea Commercial Port Company LLC over eight month 2006 amounted to 22.95 thou tons (- 9.9%). Over the reported period the company handled 4.62 thou tons of metal scrap (4-fold increase against year-on-year result). The company handled 9.01 thou tons of construction materials (- 47.1%), 1.63 thou tons of citruses (in January-August 2005 citrus transshipment was not carried out), vegetables — 2.04 thou tons, (3 times as little as in January-August 2005). Timber transshipment amounted to 5.22 thou tons (+ 2%). Container turnover of the company reached 0.44 thou tons (in January-August 2006 container transshipment was not carried out).
The port of Tuapse is located at the territory of Krasnodar region, at the North-East coast of the Black Sea in the upper part of Tuapse Bay. The water area of the port is limited by the Southern, South-Western and Western breakwater structures separating it from the sea. Tuapse is the second lport at the Russia’s Black Sea coast after Novorossisk to carry out export transshipment of oil products and it is the only ice-free deepwater port to carry out export transshipment of coal. Two stevedoring companies operate in the port: Tuapse Sea Trade Port OJSC (14 berths) and Tuapse Sea Commercial Port Company LLC (one berth of the Fishing port).
