Turnover of Karelian transport companies grew in January-August by 2.8% to 17.7 million t-km
Turnover of Karelian transport companies grew in January-August by 2.8% to 17.66 million t-km. This information has been provided by PRIME-TASS referring to Kareliastat. Cargo turnover of railroad transport grew by 3.5% to 17.544 million t-km, motor transport – by 42% to 115.9 million t-km, air transport – decreased by 7.5% to 7.4 million t-km. Transport companies increased amount of cargo transported over the reported period by 2.8% to 12.013 million tons, including by railroad transport – by 4.8% to 11.488 million tons, air transport – by 4.8% to 1.1 thou tons, motor transport – by 18.5% to 524.4 thou tons. The structure of railroad transportation of cargo consists mainly of iron ore (53.3% of total volume), share of construction cargo is 27.4%, timber – 10.7%. Tariffs for cargo transportation in January-August 2006 grew against the beginning of the year by 12.9%, including railroad transport – by 8.9%, inner water transport – by 15.7%, motor transport – by 10.2%.
