Atomflot announces tender for construction of two serial nuclear icebreakers
FSUE Atomflot has announced tender for construction of two serial nuclear icebreakers, IAA PortNews journalist cites Mikhail Kamensky, deputy head of Rosatom, as saying today at the ceremonial keel laying of the Arktika icebreaker, lead 60-MWt multipurpose double-draught nuclear icebreaker of Project 22220.
He does not rule out that Baltiysky Zavod can win the tender.
So 3 nuclear icebreakers of project 22220 will be built all in all. The lead icebreaker of the Arktika series has been laid down today at Baltiysky Zavod (Saint-Petersburg).
The first icebreaker is to be delivered in 2018, the second – in 2020.
