MOL continues salvage of fore part and cargo of MOL Comfort
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) reports that the tow wire was disconnected from the fore part of MOL Comfort which was being towed in a west-northwest direction.
A salvage company, contracted by MOL with three tugboats is working on the recovery. The towing of will be resumed in a west-northwest direction once the work is completed.
The shipowner said that the condition of the fore part is stable with majority of cargo aboard and confirmed that no oil film around the fore part is present.
Earlier reports said the hull of MOL-owned containership MOL Comfort on June 17 fractured in 2 parts while under way on the Indian Ocean. Ten days later the ship’s aft part with cargo abord sank in the Indian Ocean.
