Abu Dhabi Ports Company in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Municipality & Civil Defence launches warehouse safety campaign
Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), a master developer and manager of both commercial and community ports, and owner of the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), in Abu Dhabi, has joined forces with the Abu Dhabi Municipality and Civil Defence to launch a safety campaign aimed at warehouse tenants in the Mina Zayed area, said in the company's press release.
The purpose of the campaign is to review safety conditions in place and to inform tenants of the ongoing safety obligations necessary to maintain and operate within the Mina Zayed warehouse district.
The campaign will roll out in three phases: the first phase will see tenants issued with the details of the safety issues and obligations each company has to its own operations and the warehousing zone in general. This will follow with a 60-day notification of inspections, in order for tenants to ensure they are adhering to guidelines drawn up by the landlord – ADPC – in conjunction with the relevant Municipality and Civil Defence agencies. Beyond this deadline, tenants who stand in violation of the safety guidelines may face fines, and other necessary measures to ensure the safety of the area.
Commenting on the warehouse safety initiative, Mohamed Al Shamisi, Acting-CEO ADPC, said:
“Safety is a top priority for ADPC across all its operations and lines of business. This new campaign is a reflection of an on-going commitment and, therefore, is simply a revisal of previous information we continually share with our valued tenants.”
In support of ADPC’s latest safety initiative Abu Dhabi Municipality issued a statement that highlights the close working relationship that they, ADPC and the Civil Defence have developed in order to review and update safety guidelines. Emphasis was also placed on Mina Zayed warehouse tenants’ obligations to bolster their own safety procedures, so as to maintain a safe operating environment for all businesses-related activities at the port.
ADPC has stated that Mina Zayed warehouse tenants can expect to receive the new guidelines this week. The deadline for responding and compliance to the updated health and safety regulations has been set for 1 August 2013, after which date an inspection will start to identify violators.
