Volume of oil export via Primorsk port grew in January-August 2006 by 13.7% amounting to 42.9 million tons
Spetsmornefteport “Primorsk” LLC (Leningrad region, subsidiary of Transneft Company) increased its oil export in January-August 2006 by 13.7% as compared with the similar period of the previous year. The result is 42 914.3 thou tons. This information has been provided to PortNews IAA at the Administration of Saint Petersburg seaport. In August of the current year oil export grew by 22.6% as compared with June 2005 amounting to 5816.8 thou tons.
The port started operation on December 27, 2001 as the finalizing unit of the first stage of Baltic Pipeline System (BPS), developed for oil transportation from Timano-Pechorskaya and West-Siberian petroleum-bearing provinces, as well as from Kazakhstan. When BPS was put into operation, its annual capacity was 12 million tons. In 2003 BPS’ Capacity reached 30 million tons of oil per year. Today its throughput is 65 million tons.
