Transatlantic becomes half Norwegian
On Wednesday, an extra ordinary General Meeting at the Swedish shipowner Transatlantic gave the green light for the take over of Norwegian Viking Supply Ships’ shares in Trans Viking that will be 100 per cent owned by Transatlantic. Since payment is made by a share issue, Viking Supply Ships will own around 50 per cent of the votes and the shares in Transatlantic.
The former largest owner in Transatlantic, Folke Patrikson will step down from the chairman position, to vice chairman. Åge Kosvold, CEO of Kistefos Group, owner of Viking Supply Ships, enters the board. Christen Sveaas, founder and sole owner of Kistefos Group, was elected chairman. Last year, Kistefos Group made a profit of close to NOK half a billion at a turnover of NOK 5 billion. Apart from offshore, the Group is involved in shipping (Oslo-based Western Bulk), finance, IT/Communications and real estate.
