Trade flows via Port of Helsinki grows 8% in Jan-Aug., to 7.1 m tons
Freight turnover at the Port of Helsinki (Finland) in January-August increased by 8% compared with the same period of last year, to 7.1 million tons, the Port Authority press release said.
Eight-month exports rose 16% to 3,172,000 tons, imports - by 15% to 3,305,000 tons.
Container traffic at the Port of Helsinki grew 15%, to 270,000 TEUs, the volume of handled Ro-Ro cargoes amounted to 316,000 units (+12% over the same period last year).
Port of Helsinki is one of the largest in Finland. In 2009, the port’s throughput fell 21% year-over-year, to 8.6 million tons.
