Sovkomflot OJSC and MNP Group have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation
Management of Sovkomflot OJSC and Sea and Oil-and-Gas Project Group of Companies (MNP Group) have signed a Memorandum of basic directions for cooperation. According to the press service of Sovkomflot OJSC, basic directions shall be the following ones: co-operation in shipbuilding and shipping issues; marketing research; cooperation in training of the personnel as well as information exchange, consulting support and investments. The cooperation is planned for implementation of such joint shipbuilding projects as construction of LPG tankers, chemical carriers of small and average deadweight as well as tankers and floating storage units for the Caspian Sea, technical and auxiliary vessels for shelf development.
Within the framework of the agreement between Sovkomflot OJSC and MNP Group it is also provisioned to develop programs aimed at upgrade of engineers of the companies of MNP Group to be arranged on the basis of UNICOM Management Services (Cyprus) being a Sovkomflot’s subsidiary.
Sovkomflot OJSC is a leading national sea carrier owing 52 vessels with a total deadweight over 4.1 million tons. Average age of the tanker fleet is about 5 years. Sovkomflot is the only Russian shipping company to place orders for large-capacity vessels with domestic shipyards. The company specializes on sea transportation of energy products. Of this total number of vessels 41 tankers have summed deadweight of over 3.9 mln tons. All the tankers are double-hulled ones.

The Group includes Russia’s leading shipyards: Krasnoye Sormovo plant (Nizhny Novgorod), Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod pland, Volgograd shipyars, Astrakhan dock-yard called after III International, Lotos plant (Astrakhan), as well as Korall CDB (Ukraine), Volgo-Caspijskoye PDB (Nizhny Novgorod) and Friede & Goldman (USA).
