RZHD forecasts raise of volume of railroad transportation via ports of Saint Petersburg and NWFD in 2010 up to 140 million tons. Volumes of transportation via ports serviced by Oktyabrskaya railway are to double amounting to 108 mln tons. According to ABN agency, this was discussed at the meeting between Viktor Stepov, head of Oktyabrskaya railway (Branch of RZHD OJSC) with Lu Lyantsin, head of Shanghai railway. According to Stepov, Oktyabrskaya railway’s share in the North-West Region is the following: 75% of cargo transportation and 40% of passenger transportation. The largest volumes of transportation fall on Saint Petersburg and Murmansk. Stepov noted that the conception of domestic transport infrastructure development implies considerable increase of port capacities of the region, in particular, owing to construction of sea ports in Ust-Luga and Primorsk.
