- Our target is to form a leading center of transport industry competence. Having integrated the best traditions of Russia’s transport school, which is 200 years old, with state-of-the-art approaches in education and science, the University will facilitate comprehensive development of Russia’s transport industry through solving personnel and scientific problems typical for all types of transport and related industries and through contribution into implementation of RF Transport Strategy for the period till 2030.
Major content-related priorities of the educational and scientific activities at the University will include a comprehensive transportation of transport and logistics infrastructure, support of transport projects implemented through private-public partnership, new technologies for cargo/passenger transportation, transport security, construction of transport infrastructure (including that in the Arctic zone). We are in desperate need of specialists for these priority sectors of Russia’s transport system.
The agenda of the University activities is determined by both strategic priorities of the Russian Federation and by global technological trends. Application of artificial intelligence technologies, intelligent transportation systems, processing of mass data is the current feature of the global transport industry. The ITS of Moscow is among the most cutting-edge systems worldwide. The projects of unscrewed vehicles are under intense development in Russia and abroad. The number of vehicles driven by electricity is growing in different cities across the globe. Unmanned aviation is being used more and more in our country, special education programmes have already been launched.
Industry-focused education should be more active in providing specialists and scientific research results for a technological breakthrough. Fast pace is required to keep up with the progress.
Today, nobody is satisfied with the lectures developed decades ago. The content and technologies of students’ training should be updated with consideration of the real economy requirements. Professional activities are getting more sophisticated. We should ensure flexibility of educational programmes and adjust them to the needs of transport companies. Large scale implementation of digital educational resources will ensure a unique competence profile for each student and postgraduate and provide a practical system of professional growth for the industry specialists.
It is necessary to develop close cooperation of the University with the industry companies. More basic departments should be established and network interaction with transport organizations should be arranged to use the platforms of the advanced practical activities for teaching of students. The best specialists and experts should be involved in the education process and students’ projects management. Transport companies are interested in the best and highly motivated students. The University is interested in teachers’ unique knowledge and competence that can be passed to the students.
