    RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov

On year’s results in water transport sector

    -  Cargo transshipment at seaports increased by more than 6%, transportation of passengers by inland water ways grew by 1%. Sommers and Kadosh dredgers, Yury Romanchenko, Victor Kuskov and Krutoyar boats were launched, flag raising ceremonies were held for training ship Khersones and icebreaker Novorossiysk. Bridges across the Kama river in Udmurtia and Tatarstan and across the Volga river in Veliky Novgorod were put into operation. The bridge at the 32nd km of Grozny – Shatoi – Itum-Kali highway in the Chechen Republic will be put into operation by the end of the year. Two working bridges and one technological bridge were built as part of the Kerch Strait crossing with the construction of one more working bridge underway.

As we can see it was quite a fruitful year for the industry. For that I am sincerely grateful to the big and tight-knit team of transport workers, to all those who ensure smooth operation of the transport system throughout the vast territory of Russia, on the ground and in the air, in any weather conditions. Next year we will continue large-scale, ambitious, challenging but interesting projects which, I’m sure, we will complete as scheduled through well-coordinated teamwork.
