Severnaya Verf starts cutting metal for initial section of longline factory vessel (photo)
Severnaya Verf Shipyard (Saint-Petersburg, a company of USC) says it has started cutting metal for an initial section of a longline factory vessel. 31 tonnes of metal will be needed for the initial section.
The keel-laying of the first longline factory vessel under the contract with fishing company Vyrma is scheduled for July.
Severnaya Verf has recently signed an agreement with Wärtsilä on supply of the main propulsion unit by June 2019. The launching of the lead longline factory vessel is scheduled for autumn 2019, the delivery – for summer 2020.
Lonliner particulars: Displacement – over 2,000 tonnes; LOA – 58.6 meters, Beam – 13 meters.
A longline factory vessel features high-technology and ecological fishing method with automated installation and hauling lines, with equipment for complete, non-waste processing and storage of the catch directly on board the ship. The longliner reference design documents was developed by Norway based Marin Teknikk AS.
Igor Ponomarev, Severnaya Verf CEO, says metal cutting for the next two longliners ordered by OOO Globus and OOO Virma is scheduled for July and November 2018 accordingly.
Severnaya Verf has an experience of building civil ship of foreign designs. In 2004-2011, the shipyard built several oil rig supply vessels designed by a Norwegian company - projects VS 470 PSV and VS 485 PSV. Severnaya Verf is thus the only shipyard in Russia to build ready-to-operate vessels of this kind for export.
