Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg and Freight One sign liaison protocol
Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) and Freight One (companies of UCL Holding) have signed a liaison protocol for planning the supply of loaded railcars and arranging their handling at the lines of the port.
SP SPb says the document has formalized the long experience of cooperation and provided the regulation for data exchange between the companies’ services. In the result, Freight One is provided with live data on approaching vessels and availability of storage space while SP SPb is informed about the traffic of railcars loaded with cargo bound for the port.
“The protocol development began in autumn 2017, a traditional period of seasonal peak when the port handles the maximum number of railcars. Having applied certain measures we managed to decrease the time of a railcar unloading from 3 to 2.5 days. On the average, that made available 2,500 additional gondola cars per month. In the result, the flow of Freight One railcars to Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg grew by 17% between November 2017 and February 2018”, said Pavel Sitalo, Director of Saint-Petersburg branch.
“In January-February, SP SPb handled 17,800 railcars, 37% more as compared with the same period in 2017. About 57% of them are railcars of Freight One. The newly signed document has already brought the first results: new patterns of interaction let facilitate handling of railcars at the port. Our joint efforts have thus demonstrated a synergetic effect in terms of growing volumes and improving the quality of cargo transportation”, said Vladislav Zhukov, Managing Director of SP SPb.
