Throughput of port Azov up 0.6% to 6.24 mln t in 8M’17
In January-August 2017, seaport of Azov handled 6.243 mln t mln t of cargo (+0.6%, year-on-year), the port Harbour Master Vladimir Bragin told IAA PortNews.
In the reporting period, transshipment of grain declined by 1% to 3.467 mln t, oil products – by 10.5% to 1.786 mln t while coal transshipment surged 2.3 times to 538,000 t.
Internal turnover of Azov seaport increased by 8.4% to 4.615 mln t, imports – by 43.5% to 226,000 t, coastal trade cargo – by 53.2% to 1.982 mln t. Exports dropped by 14.2% to 2.407 mln t, transit – by 16.4% to 1.628 mln t.
The Azov Port Harbour Master Service registered 2,271 arrivals and 2,284 departures vs 2,434 arrivals and 2,437 departures in January-August 2016.
Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
