ABP donates £1,500 to Felixstowe Volunteer Coast Patrol Rescue Service
ABP’s Port of Ipswich has announced a donation of £1,500 to the Felixstowe Volunteer Coast Patrol Rescue Service (FVCPRS), which marks its continued support of the charity for a seventh year.
Established in 1997, FVCPRS is Registered Charity and one of the UK’s MCA regulated lifeboat services. The organisation’s prime objectives are to promote sea safety through education and to protect and preserve life at sea by the provision of a volunteer coast patrol rescue service within the surrounding areas.
Captain John Cresswell, FVCPRS Chairman, said: “We are very pleased to be associated with and to fly the flag for ABP. Our long association helps both organisations to maintain the River Orwell’s excellent marine safety record.”
The FVCPRS has been patrolling the River Orwell, flying ABP’s flag since 2010. During the past year, the rescue service handled eight casualty situations, including saving the life of a five year old girl off Pin Mill.

“The River Orwell plays a significant part in the continued prosperity of the town of Ipswich and we are committed to being good neighbours by promoting safer sea travel through our continued support of FVCPRS.”
